We’ve been talking turkeys all week in our first grade classrooms.
Throughout the week we have read lots of interesting books and articles to learn about turkeys and we made a few fun art projects and books of our own. Here’s a peek at a few of the facts we learned . . .
There’s nothing we love more than finding cute projects online from other teachers. Thanks to a freebie on TpT from Bright Concepts for Teachers we made a cute little turkey art project to wrap up our week of turkey themed fun. Students all made the turkey body and then had to add feathers that each had a fact they had learned. It was amazing how many feathers they wanted to add to their projects. They they used their turkeys projects to write about all the things they learned. We worked really hard on writing an introduction and a conclusion.
Here’s a peek at our final projects . . .
If you haven’t grabbed this freebie make sure you head over and get it . . . you’ve still got a few days to talk turkeys with your own kiddos.
It’s also not to late to grab a set of our new Terrific Turkey worksheets. We finally got them finished up and posted in our TpT store. We are looking forward to using them the next few weeks to review many of the math and language arts skills we’ve been covering. They are the perfect supplement to use for independent practice.
Throughout the week our kids also worked on all of our It’s Turkey Time centers. Their favorite activity was using the sentence wheel to write super turkey sentences about their fine feathered friends.
